05/20/2004 07:42 PM Hank McComas - I got the feeling that this park was highly underutilized. At the time of my visit there was no entrance fee, no fee to launch. The kayak and canoe rentals were inexpensive. The visitor center was nice. Getting there was not particularly easy with a series of right angle turns first north then east north then east, etc. Just follow the brown national park signs and don't despair. The kayak concession was just starting. there are tour boats that run out to the outer islands. There is a camp ground on Boca Chica, the outer island, reachable only by ferry from the visiotr's center or by private boat.
