Intermediate coastal kayakers will perfect advanced strokes and maneuvers, as an end goal, or as preparation for advanced open water skill development.







Goal: Help intermediate coastal kayakers perfect advanced strokes and maneuvers, as an end goal, or as preparation for advanced open water skill development. It may be beneficial to take this course more than once.

Objectives: Learn to perform the following strokes and maneuvers with efficiency, fluidity and control.

1. Forward stroke.
2. Sweep stroke
3. Reverse strokes
4. Beam draw (In water recovery)
5. Sculling draw
6. Scull for support
7. Low brace
8. High brace
9. Static brace turns
10. Bow rudder
11. Side slip (Hanging draw)
12. Stern rudder
 
 

Rescues are also emphasized in this intermediate kayaking course. Some of the rescue skills covered are:

High & Low bracing
T and TX Rescue
Eskimo bow rescue
Eskimo paddle presentation
Paddle float rescue (Hands Only Method)
Paddle float rescue (Deck Rigging Method)
Paddle float rescue (Stirup Method)

Price per student per 4 hour course: $80
Maximum of 5 students per instructor.
